Located in Rua João Saraiva, Vera Cortês is not a conventional contemporary art gallery as it lives the artist's passion, focusing on the artist's exhibition and work so that in an irreverent way, they achieve visibility and success. Initially, the gallery owner Vera Cortês worked in an agency format, supporting projects by emerging artists, when it was not easy to be a young artist due to the scarcity of galleries. After opening her space, Vera tried to make art accessible and a part of everyone's life, creating new opportunities and lasting relationships with its stakeholders.
Today, it represents national and international artists in a field with different artistic techniques. It specializes in organizing monographic exhibitions, endeavours to promote its artists across borders, participating in several international fairs and inviting several curators to exhibitions and projects.
Vera believes that the success of a gallery depends on its artists, including names such as Vhils, Anna Franceschini, Céline Condorelli, Gabriela Albergaria, John Wood and Joana Escoval.
Open Tuesday to Saturday from 2 pm to 7 pm. Saturday at extended hours.
