Carlos Carvalho has been a contemporary art gallery of merit located in Rua Joly Braga Santos, Lisbon, since 1988. It has brought nearly 200 exhibitions to the public by artists from all over the world. Despite representing various artistic techniques, it committed to “languages that use photography as a privileged way of communication”.
The space has represented its wide range of artists well, participating in numerous art fairs such as ARCOMadrid, ARCOLisboa, MAM, MAAT and Paris Photo, the latter for nine consecutive years. It also allowed the affirmation of several artists in Portugal presenting their first individual exhibitions.
It is essential to mention the gallery's regular role in editing books in collaboration with relevant authors and publishers, setting up meetings and inviting curators and writers.
Open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 7.30 pm. Reduced hours on Saturdays.
